MPH-MPP Dual Public Health Degrees

Health issues are a priority in the public arena. One of the primary ways health issues are dealt with is through public policy. The Master of Public Health-Master of Public Policy (MPH-MPP) dual degree is tailored to those who want to design, advocate for, and evaluate efforts that promote healthy behaviors and social conditions through addressing public policy and influencing how communities develop from a public health perspective.

Students who pursue an MPH-MPP dual degree will learn to work across the public, non-profit, and private sectors to develop policy-based approaches to improving and protecting the public’s health. They will acquire the skills needed to conduct health policy analysis, understand organizational processes in health care, develop policy-based approaches to important public health issues, and communicate complex health policies to the public. These skills will be developed through courses such as Biostatistics, Bioethics, Environmental Health, Program Planning and Evaluation, Finance, and Public Policy Research.

Increasing one’s focus on public health preparedness, public health research and evaluation, and environmental health may dramatically increase career opportunities for those interested in public policy and planning. Plus, this dual degree should provide you with the education needed to be effective in roles involving health policy development, administration, and evaluation at federal and state governmental agencies, consulting organizations, health advocacy groups, and health care associations.

Potential careers you may pursue with an MPH-MPP dual degree include:

  • Health Policy Analyst
